(LONG)

A Mother, Beth, 40, has a newly found writing career after writing about her late husband. Already in a state of emotion she now has to send her only child off to University, Ellie, 19, who has already taken a gap year, having allowed Beth to be comforted for another year. The film follows as she tries to cope with growing loneliness alongside her struggle to continue her writing career. The advice she gains from her now distant daughter is to find some new friends and try new activities. Beth reluctantly warms to the advice but soon regrets each club activity as she meets some obnoxious individuals in the book club or creates some enemies through her clumsy dancing. It’s not until she finds the comfort of an art teacher who shares a relatable story to Beth. After the art class, Beth can only think about her daughter and returns to her daughter’s bedroom, having not looked in it since she’s been gone. The scenery rushing back the memories of when Ellie was a child and growing up. This helps her to reminisce the life her and her daughter have had together, only then does she learn to accept the cycle of parenthood. This resolution for Beth quickly sparks a decision to call someone she’s not called in a very long time; Her own mother.
